Video Interview | Professor Hui Su Shares the Behind-the-Scenes Story of "MUSICO"


In May this year, Hong Kong payload specialist Dr. Lai Ka-ying lifted off aboard the Shenzhou-23 manned spacecraft, becoming the first Hong Kong citizen in space. On September 9, the "Tiangong Class: Hong Kong & Macao Special Session" space lecture—co-hosted by the HKSAR Government, Macao SAR Government, and the China Manned Space Agency—was held at Dr. Lai's alma mater, Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College. The Shenzhou-23 crew, including Dr. Lai, demonstrated live scientific experiments for students from Hong Kong and Macao, vividly showcasing the unique environment and promise of space technology. From behind-the-scenes R&D to executing missions in orbit, Hong Kong has successfully transitioned from a supporting role to core execution.




Notably, "MUSICO" (Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory), the "Space Eye" led and developed by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), has been successfully deployed aboard China's "Tiangong" space station.
